The Pack
David Shatz, Yael Korenstein, Shir Senior
An ensemble of ceramic objects is placed motionless on a table: individuals in a group with no clear hierarchy, collectively forming a ceramic landscape. As the table moves at varying rhythms, a wave of motion passes through the objects placed upon it. Thanks to their rounded bases, they lean forward and return to their upright position with each motion, like nodding figurines. At times, they move in unison, becoming a pack. At other moments, they stand still, becoming a landscape. The viewers experience a deceptive sense of delicacy and fragility as they oscillate between discomfort and relief in the face of the approaching and receding possibility of the objects breaking.
Materials and technique: slip casting, a motorized table.
