What-er
Adar Keilin, Bar Zarmon
We have grown used to expressing ourselves through imagery. We use it to mediate our inner worlds, to reveal and conceal, and to observe the world from new perspectives.
Now, equipped with software, we can replicate imagined and not-necessarily-accurate realities and show yet another perspective on the real and virtual worlds that surround us.
"What-er" is a digitally created living aquatic environment that occupies a physical space through light projection.
Similar to taxidermy, which allows us glimpses into moments we never get to experience otherwise, this work is the result of a desire to explore the sublime and preserve it in a renewed manner. It expresses a desire to surrender to the curiosity and awe we feel in the face of nature, and to use a simulated environment to create a meeting point between inner and outer realms.
