Artifacts
Naama Agassi
“Artifacts" was created using a unique technique that imitates natural stone. Developed by the designer Naama Agassi, this technique was inspired by a traditional Italian method of creating a realistic stone-like effect. However, contrary to the ancient technique, which aimed to replicate natural stones with maximum precision, Agassi chose to forego the attempt to imitate nature and instead remained faithful to the artisanal qualities of her work. The choice to accentuate the artificial qualities of her creations gave Agassi the freedom to make objects from stones that do not and cannot exist. Set in a fictional geological excavation, “Artifacts” connects artificial, man-made objects with an imagined natural environment in which they could have been uncovered.
