Vision Eclipse
Alon Halamit
A cyclical process of revealing and concealing can create an optical illusion that affects the way we perceive physical space. “Vision Eclipse” uses this trick to examine the role of vision in shaping our sense of reality. Does the “realness” of the things we see faithfully represent their essence? Or perhaps it’s all smoke and mirrors?
The spinning object represents the change in our inner world, and the projected eclipse represents the changes in the world outside. The way the two intersect produces a non-linear—and sometimes seemingly impossible—optical illusion that simulates the potential dynamism of how we perceive reality. The interplay of light and dark delineates the rapidly blurring line between the real and the virtual.
