Terra ex Machina
Hagit Keysar, Ariel Caine, Barak Brinker
"Terra ex Machina" is a photographic prototype for a paradoxical territory that is simultaneously hidden from the eye and has more eyes on it than any other place in the world: the Old City of Jerusalem.
Using drone photography and three-dimensional (photogrammetric) imaging, the project reveals the obscured space created by the invisible wall that keeps drones out of the designated no-fly zone around Temple Mount—Al-Aqsa.
This ongoing visual and creative research project examines the transformation of the space and visibility conditions in the era of drone photography using experimental methods of creative resistance—new ways to reclaim the airspace from above and below.
